More than a tradition, hockey is a cornerstone in our culture that often transcends almost everything else for people from all walks of life. In this painting, I have portrayed a group of youngsters playing on a frozen pond trying to get that last goal before they have to go home for supper.
Two of the greatest rivals in hockey were Montreal and Toronto; here they look down symbolically at the next generation of young hopefuls. Maple Leaf Gardens and the Forum still aglow with emotional memories in the sunset remind us of the places where hopes were dashed and dreams came true.
